Internet Explorer 10 Platform Preview 2 is now available for download, includes site ready HTML5, improved performance and increased security. One of the biggest changes in PP2 are some new technologies like Web Workers with Channel Messaging and Async script support which makes IE much more efficient when it comes to battery life - notebook users will love this!
HTML5 is a key thing for Microsoft now, with it's support for hardware acceleration for all the graphics, audio and text which is bringing developers together and creating some truly stunning websites. A third of developers plan to begin using HTML5 within the next six months and an additional third plan to do so within the next two years.

As well as having just rolled out their Cloud based Office 365 service, Microsoft has just kicked out Service Pack 1 for Office 2010. This pack includes all public updates right up until now along with a handful of unreleased fixes which help improve stability, performance and security.
Here are some of the highlights :-
- Word 2010 SP1 includes a dialog box that warns users that the custom XML will be lost when files that use custom XML markups are saved in XML-based file formats.
- Outlook 2010 SP1 includes Office 365 support.
- Excel 2010 SP1 - Function names now maintain backward compatibility with earlier versions of Excel for the Czech, Dutch, Danish, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, and Turkish languages.

Microsoft is aiming at an April 2012 date for the RTM release of not only Windows 8 for x86, but for Windows 8 for ARM/SoC and Windows 8 Server all at the same time. Microsoft's plan is to deliver a single Windows 8 beta build around the the time of its upcoming Build conference.
Microsoft hope to convince Windows, Windows Azure, Windows Phone and Web developers to attend the event in Anaheim, California between September 13 and 16, 2011. Once the beta hits, Microsoft will then deliver an RC (release candidate) build of Windows 8 which should arrive in January 2012. The final released build will be the RTM, this means only two public build tests which is the same method of what we had for Windows 7.

CPU-Z is a freeware utility that gathers information on some of the main devices of your system. CPU-Z does not need to be installed, just unzip the files in a directory and run the .exe. In order to remove the program, just delete the files. The program does not copy any file in any Windows directory, nor write to the registry.

Following nearly 2 months of worldwide security mayhem which began with the breach and temporary (but painfully long) closure of Sony's PlayStation network, the hacker group responsible, "LulzSec" has indicated that it finally plans to withdraw its aggressive hacking antics and disband.
This group has certainly made quite a shattering impact in performing several high-profile security breaches and DoS attacks against the likes of Sony as mentioned, Nintendo and even the US Senate and FBI. Their hacking adventures have resulted in company costs well into the 10s of millions.
Apple have released what could be the last update to OS X Snow Leopard before their next OS hits, Mac OS X Lion 10.7. Mac OS X 10.6.8 is available now and includes a number of "general operating system fixes," including improved VPN reliability and removal of known variants of Mac Defender.
What is probably the most important thing to note with 10.6.8 is that it includes an "Enhancement to the Mac App Store to get your Mac ready to upgrade to Mac OS X Lion". You will require 10.6.8 if you want to upgrade to Lion when it comes out next month. As for what is included in the 10.6.8 update, heres a run down:

Adobe updates Flex, one tool, one framework and one code base that run on Web, desktops, smartphones and tablets
A few days ago Adobe released updated models of two of their tools, Flash Builder and Flex have been updated to version 4.5.1, boosting mobile application development support. The updated products support development of applications for various tech, Android, BlackBerry, RIM PlayBook and Apple iOS-based devices. The new upgraded versions of Flash Builder and Flex now cover all major mobile OSs for the first time with Flash Builder 4.5.1 and Flex 4.5.1.
