DDR5 RAM drops in price: 20% cheaper in a month so far

ComputerBase has been keeping a close eye on DDR5 memory pricing, with DDR5-4800 memory dropping down to under 5 EUR per gigabyte: 20% cheaper over the last month alone. ComputerBase has an awesome price tracker, that includes over 200 different DDR5 memory kits, with the standard 32GB DDR5-4800 desktop SO-DIMM kit (the JEDEC standard) costing 154 EUR, down from nearly 450 EUR at the start of the year, and down from 250+ EUR in February and March 2022.

The site also noticed price drops for U-DIMM memory, with 16GB modules of DDR5 memory -- Kingston DDR5-4800 memory for example, in a single 16GB DIMM -- costs 42 EUR. This is a huge reduction as well, as it was 99 EUR back in February.

MSI accidentally teases 'AMD EXPO' DDR5 memory overclocking technology

Anthony Garreffa | May 24, 2022 7:46 AM CDT

AMD has outed its enthusiast-grade X670E + X670 chipsets and a bunch of new motherboards are being announced, with MSI accidentally revealing AMD's new DDR5 memory overclocking technology.

MSI accidentally teases 'AMD EXPO' DDR5 memory overclocking technology

MSI outed AMD's new "EXPO" technology, which popped its head up inside of MSI's own X670 launch slides... but AMD didn't make a mention of it. MSI has asked other websites to remove the post, as it seems mentions of EXPO is triggering alarm bells for the company, or it could be completely wrong.

We have no idea what AMD's new EXPO technology is going to do exactly, but there are some things that AMD didn't share, that MSI shared through the leaked slides. We know that AMD is claiming just 24 PCIe 5.0 lanes, but MSI is saying there will be 28 PCIe 5.0 lanes (this could change, could be a mistake, or could be a future SKU).

The new TEAMGROUP T-Force DELTA RGB DDR5 memory is available in a new high-speed variant: DDR5-6600, while the company also has a DDR5-6000 low-latency kit with CL30 timings. Both of the new TEAMGROUP T-Force DELTA RGB DDR5 offerings are coming in 32GB kits (2x16GB).

TEAMGROUP uses its iconic 120-degree wide-angle RGB heat spreader, with smart RGB control. TEAMGROUP will have its new T-Force DELTA RGB DDR5-6600 and DDR5-6000 memory kits in July 2022, sending them to major motherboard manufacturers for verification testing. You'll need an Intel Z690-based motherboard or one of AMD's future X670E + X670-based motherboards.

GeIL EVO-V: the world's first DDR5 RAM with a dual-fan RGB cooler

Anthony Garreffa | May 19, 2022 10:27 PM CDT

GeIL has just unveiled their new EVO V DDR5 RGB Hardcore Gaming Memory with a "ground-breaking dual-fan cooling system that combines RGB illumination and next-generation active cooling design into a one-piece molded heatshield".

GeIL EVO-V: the world's first DDR5 RAM with a dual-fan RGB cooler

The new GeIL EVO V DDR5 RGB Hardcore Gaming Memory comes in 32GB and 64GB kits with speeds of between DDR5-4800 and DDR-6600. The unique heat spreader is joined with an active cooling system with RGB lighting and comes in both titanium gray and glacier white variants.

Even with the extensive cooling system and dual-fan cooler, the GeIL EVO V DDR5 RGB Hardcore Gaming Memory can fit next to most CPU coolers of the physical height of the heat spreader. The two cooling fans are found in the heatshield's top left and top right corners, pushing airflow across the DDR5 RAM: up to 45% more thermal dissipation is achieved, which is quite significant. Nice work there, GeIL.

Sabrent announces high-perf Rocket DDR5 U-DIMM: 16GB + 32GB DDR5-4800

Anthony Garreffa | May 11, 2022 8:33 AM CDT

Sabrent must be working with CERN and the Large Hadron Collider in the multiverse, making products in alternate realities with thousands of staff working in tandem... because the company has released so many new products and we're barely 5 months into 2022.

Sabrent announces high-perf Rocket DDR5 U-DIMM: 16GB + 32GB DDR5-4800

The company has just unveiled its new high-performance, low-latency DDR5 UDIMM memory modules: available in 16GB and 32GB single sticks at DDR5-4800 speeds. Sabrent explains: "It seems like DDR4 has ruled the roost forever. Finally, new motherboards and architectures have allowed memory to grow wings with the advent of DDR5. Improved clock speeds promise up to twice the bandwidth of DDR4, all with lower voltage for better efficiency".

"To further help with that last bit, DDR5 has on-board power management to reduce motherboard cost and complexity. Sabrent's new DDR5 kits simply plug and play, install your memory kits of choice, enter the BIOS and hit AUTO, and reboot. For those that want to OC these kits, there is plenty of headroom to advance speeds if you want".

GIGABYTE edges MSI out: DDR5-10022 overclock sets NEW world record

Anthony Garreffa | May 1, 2022 6:25 PM CDT

GIGABYTE has just nudged MSI out of the way of the DDR5 memory overclocking world record, where MSI smashed into 10004MT/s... GIGABYTE pushed 18MT/s more reaching DDR5-10022.

GIGABYTE edges MSI out: DDR5-10022 overclock sets NEW world record

The record was broken by GIGABYTE's internal OC team that HiCookie leads, with the DDR5 memory frequency world record being achieved on the GIGABYTE Z690 AORUS Tachyon motherboard. This motherboard in particular, was crafted from its inception for overclocking... and those days are now here.

GIGABYTE not only used its own Z690 AORUS Tachyon motherboard, but its AORUS DDR5 memory -- which was DDR5-4800 before overclocking, with a single 16GB DDR5 stick -- pushed up to DDR5-10022. The GIGABYTE OC team had timings of 46-58-58-46-104-2 (tCAS-tRCD-tRP-tRAS-tRC-tCR) when at DDR5-10022 speeds.

MSI goes ballistic: DDR5-10004 speeds hit on MEG Z690 Unify-X mobo

Anthony Garreffa | Apr 27, 2022 6:17 PM CDT

MSI's internal overclocking team has broken a new world record for DDR5 memory overclocking, with MSI OC member Kovan Yang smashing the record: hitting DDR5-10004 speeds.

MSI goes ballistic: DDR5-10004 speeds hit on MEG Z690 Unify-X mobo

The MSI OC Team used some very heavily overclocked Kingston Fury Beast DDR5 memory, boosting it up from its stock frequency of DDR5-4800 up to an insane DDR5-10004. The team of course used an MSI motherboard, with the MEG Z690 Unify-X and Intel's latest Core i9-12900KS processor, which was gimped down to 4 cores and a 425MHz CPU clock.

Kingston's Fury Beast DDR5 memory was overclocked to 5001.8MHz with high timings of 72-126-126-126-127-2 -- the only way DDR5-10004 specs were hit. Insanity, absolute insanity, hats off to Yang and the MSI OC Team for this incredible achievement.
