While The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt might not be coming out for a little while yet, CD Projekt Red and Fuero Games are working together for a MOBA title being released this week on Android and iOS.
The Witcher Battle Arena is a new mobile MOBA title, which is set within the universe of The Witcher. In the free-to-play MOBA game, gamers will battle it over a 3-on-3 game, but you can also play the singleplayer side of things which is available, too. Heroes within The Witcher Battle Arena will feature their own special, distinct abilities and skills that will allow players to find the characters that work best for their play style.
The developers have said that The Witcher Battle Arena is not a "pay-to-win" experience, as it is a fully free-to-play title. Gamers can unlock any of the purchasable in-game content through playing the game. The developer explains: "Everything in the game is unlockable for free, just by playing the game. Our system is honest, well balanced and doesn't keep you playing for ages to unlock something. If you want to get something unlocked faster, you can purchase it for a reasonable price. It's that simple".
Techland will be launching Dying Light on January 27, but before its launch, you can get an exclusive preview thanks to NVIDIA and Twitch. The preview will be showon on Saturday, January 24, at 10:00AM PST.
You can watch it here, where the developer will be showing off the Be The Zombie mode, and Dying Light's hopefully awesome cooperative mode. Techland will be teasing the "crazy, over-powered Zombie hunt and destroy humans" gameplay according to NVIDIA. On the cooperative side of things, this mode allows you to eradicate the Zombies with your friends, which will be pretty awesome to do.
The latest trailer for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is out, showing off the latest DLC pack which features Exo Zombies. The first part of the new DLC is called Havoc, which sees some pretty great voice talent stepping up to the plate.
We have John Malkovich, Bill Paxton, Rose McGowan and Jon Bernthal in the latest DLC. The Havoc DLC will go live on January 27 for the Xbox One and Xbox 360, with the new DLC sporting four new multiplayer maps, the AE4 assault rifle, and Widowmaker custom variant. You can grab Havoc for $15 separately, but season pass owners will receive it for free.
SEGA and Creative Assembly have announced that Alien: Isolation is a success, selling over one million copies across the world. This might not keep up with the insane sales of the latest Call of Duty or Battlefield, but for a game like this, it's big news.
Horror games generally don't sell anywhere near as well as established franchises, especially first-person shooters like Call of Duty. But, Alien: Isolation has been received very well both with critics, and gamers. Let's hope we see the two team up for another outing in the Alien universe, cranking up the scares once again. Maybe with the launch of the Oculus Rift?
During its Windows 10 event, Microsoft teased so much that we've had to cover it in multiple stories, but one of the more PC centric talks was about DirectX 12.
DirectX 12 will ship with Windows 10 later this year, and will provide developers with more power and control over their games, which will provide them with the ability to give gamers more complex, and better performing games. Microsoft's Phil Spencer teased that DX12 will reduce the power consumption of DX11 by 50%, which will allow many more mid-range mobile devices to run "high-end" mobile games.
Spencer also announced that Unity has adopted DirectX 12, which is big news in itself. This will allow games like Fable Legends to use DX12 to work between Windows 10 and Xbox One owners, and even cross-platform play, which is super exciting.
The Elder Scrolls Online video game from Bethesda will be released for the Sony PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Xbox One on June 9. Bethesda also announced the game won't require a monthly subscription to play, so PS4, Xbox One, and PC gamers will be able to save a few bucks per month.
The PC version of the game will be released on March 17, with current players migrated to The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited.
However, those interested in ESO Plus will still have access to "exclusive in-game bonuses, a monthly allotment of Crows to use in the store and access to all DLC game packs while a member."
Microsoft has announced that Windows 10 will allow users to stream any Xbox One game onto any Windows 10 PC or tablet, and play it from there.
The demo included the presenter playing Forza on the Surface, Microsoft's tablet, but the game was actually running on an Xbox console. This will allow the power of the console's graphics on small devices that would not be able to play the games.
eSports are on the rise worldwide, and competitive leagues are beginning to see problems that plagued traditional sports in the past. A recent Counter Strike: Global Offensive match organized by the CEVO gaming league was rigged, with the losing team placing over $10,000 dollars in bets that paid off if they lost.
The fixed match was apparent as it unfolded, members of the iBuyPower team were laughing as they were blown up by the other team and went for knife kills in an unusual fashion. The team chalked the loss up to jet lag and being unfamiliar with the map, but two pro members on the team spilled the beans on the match fixing.
Gambling on the matches is quite popular, and the betting site CS:GO Lounge did some digging to see if they could ferret out evidence of the thrown match. They confirmed that all nine accounts, which each placed the maximum bet, were all from a single user, or people on his Steam friends list. Every one of the bets won $1,200, for a total of $10,800.
Xbox One owners will get a four-day head start on Battlefield Hardline thanks to the preview program EA access offers, which should have owners of Microsoft's now current-gen console very happy.
The previews themselves are limited to just six hours of gameplay over the four days, but any of the save games and other files generated over that time will transfer over to the full release on March 17. The preview is free, but EA Access costs $5 per month, or $30 for the year.
Battlefield Hardline will launch on the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC on March 17. But before the full launch, we are to expect another open beta, which there are no specific dates for just yet.
