The Lord of the Rings books are some of the most well-known pieces of creative literature, that is mostly due to the universe being so in-depth that you can get lost in all of the little interconnecting stories. This amazing creation came from J.R.R Tolkien and now we are receiving a movie about his life.

Samuel L. Jackson lets slip Captain Marvel can time travel

Jak Connor | Jan 9, 2019 7:00 AM CST

The launch date for Marvels next important character to take the spotlight in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is almost upon us, Captain Marvel is about to take the stage and Samuel L. Jackson has just confirmed she can time travel.

Samuel L. Jackson lets slip Captain Marvel can time travel

Samuel L. Jackson was conducting an interview with Entertainment Tonight when the actor was asked a series of questions regarding the upcoming Captain Marvel movie. One of the questions that Jackson answered was what qualities does Captain Marvel have to be the right first female-led superhero film from Marvel. Jackson answered "She's pretty much the strongest character -- in terms of someone with powers are able to do things -- in the Marvel universe. So, for Carol Danvers to be that person and for Brie to become that person, it's gonna be a dynamite thing."

Jackson continues and says "I mean, [the Avengers] are up against some really, really tough odds right now -- we saw throughout Infinity War -- so now we know that we need something that's as powerful as Thanos. And at some point, we'll find out how powerful she is and all the things that she's capable of. She's one of the few people in the Marvel universe that can time travel, so..." This is quite interesting and raises the question as to if Marvel have planned on dropping these small seeds of information right before movie launch to stir up talk. If so smart marketing, because I'm definitely intrigued as to how this will all play out in Avengers: End Game if it turns out to be true.

Aquaman: largest DCEU movie, third-largest underwater movie

Anthony Garreffa | Jan 5, 2019 10:57 PM CST

Aquaman is the success story that WB has been gambling for since it started with Man of Steel in 2013, continued with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and hit out of the park with Wonder Woman.

Aquaman: largest DCEU movie, third-largest underwater movie

Between now and then it hasn't been so good with the total dumpster fire that was Justice League, but WB allowed James Wan who directed Furious 7 and made an insane $1.5 billion for Universal. Wan had a vision for Aquaman that has paid off in more ways than one, with the energenic and charismatic Jason Momoa riding the wave as anyone would.

Well, the movie quickly shot past a few hundred million dollars in Chinese box office before hitting the US to open just shy of $200 million. It was only a few days ago that Aquaman was edging on $800 million and has now passed that to reach $887 million with no signs of slowing down. In comparison, the full cinema run of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice only pulled in $873 million and that had Superman and Batman in the title, in a fight, in a showdown almost to the death and it didn't hit $1 billion.

1998's Pokemon: The First Movie remade in CGI, July 12 debut

The Pokemon Company are re-releasing 'The First Movie' in CGI as apart of the 'Mewtwo Year', which is in celebration of the character making its debut and the lengthy 20 year lifespan it has created. The CGI re-release also features a much more accurate name change for the movie, changing from 'Pokemon: The First Movie' to 'Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution.'

It should be noted that Pokemon: The First Movie released back in 1998 and debuted amidst the beginning of the Pokemon trading card craze, the movie managed to pull in $232 million in box office sales and other forms of media. Unfortunately, the film is only expected to launch in Japan, but we can no doubt see the CGI re-release hitting the rest of the world. Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution is planned for release in Japan on July 12th, 2019.

Aquaman pulls in $750 million so far, aims for $1 billion

Anthony Garreffa | Jan 2, 2019 1:33 AM CST

Jason Momoa has been riding one of the biggest waves he's ever ridden in his life, first making a small but brief appearance as Aquaman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and then a more filled-out role in Justice League which bombed at the box office.

Aquaman pulls in $750 million so far, aims for $1 billion

Aquaman was released in the US on December 21 and made hundreds of millions of dollars at the Chinese box office before its stateside release, with the domestic total about to hit $190 million. The total box office haul of Aquaman so far sits at just over $750 million, well on its way towards $800 million and with its eyes on the prize at $1 billion.

Aquaman has already made more money than the entire run of Justice League, but the US domestic box office numbers for Aquaman aren't as strong as Man of Steel, Justice League, Batman v Superman, or Wonder Woman. We have to give Aquaman it's full run before we have numbers locked in, but global box office sales have been a tsunami for WB and the still-in-trouble DCEU.

Jak Connor | Dec 26, 2018 1:00 AM CST

With the Witcher in full-scale production at the moment, insiders that are working along Justice League star, Henry Cavill have leaked some information regarding future seasons for the upcoming show.

Rumor: Netflix already has greenlit more 'Witcher' seasons

The rumor is sourced by known DCEU insider, KC Walsh of Geeks WorldWide. Walsh has quite the track record for leaking information about upcoming TV shows and movies and the information that he has managed to gather for the 'Witcher' TV show is about how Netflix is overall feeling about its current production rate and quality.

According to Walsh, Netflix is reportedly "very happy with the Witcher and we could see multiple seasons greenlit before season one airs or shortly after." Walsh continues to explain that if Netflix does this then Henry Cavills schedule would be quite full for awhile, which in turn could take away from the potential of Cavill making a return as Superman. As you would expect, this is just a rumor so please take it with a grain of salt.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly the actor gives some explanation toward what to expect in the story. Harbour says that this reboot is "not an origin story, but it's his coming to terms with where he came from. He's been Hellboy for a long time, but there's a new turn of events at the start of the film, where people start to bring up the fact that he might bring about the end of the world, and it's really the first time he's heard anything like that. The question that comes up in the movie is where does he really belong?"

The other actors that will be featured around Harbour will be Resident Evils Milla Jovovich as the Blood Queen, Ian McShane as Professor Broom, Daniel Dae Kim as Ben Daimo and Sasha Lane as Alice Monaghan. Disney Pixar release short film 'Bao' - A Mother & Son story

Jak Connor | Dec 19, 2018 5:00 AM CST

Disney Pixar has surprised us with a newly released short film revolving around the ups and down of a mother and son relationship.

Disney Pixar release short film 'Bao' - A Mother & Son story

The above short film is titled "Bao" and is directed by Domee Shi. From the video we get visual representations of the hardships of being a mother and watching her son grow up. Bao, which is the mother in this story, gets another shot at motherhood when magically one of her dumplings becomes alive. Instantly emotionally attached, Bao watches the little dumpling quickly grow up while at the same time protecting it as best she can from the threats of the outside world.

Eventually, Bao is forced to face the realization that her little dumpling cannot be little forever, and just like any mother and son relationship the mother must realize that the son has to grow up and live his own life. A tragic turn of events happens when Bao is confronted by the moment of "letting go" of her dumpling and decides to eat him instead, throwing her into pit of regret and remorse. Bao is then greeted by her human son who seems to be regretful of the way he previously treated his mother (the dumpling is a complete metaphor to the human son), he then makes an effort to mend the relationship between the two.
