Our App of the Day today is Google+ 220.127.116.116 for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad with iOS 4.0 or later.
Sure, Facebook has got all the attention of the web this week with all its announcements during its F8 Developer Conference, but Google+ is still kicking along.
This week it went live to the public and reportedly added 10 million new users in one day as a result. Google has recently updated its Google+ iOS app to version 18.104.22.1686 which adds Mobile Hangouts and Messenger (formerly Huddle).
Real-life sharing rethought for the web, wherever you are
Google+ for mobile makes sharing the right things with the right people a lot simpler.
* Circles let you share the right things with just the right people.
* Visit the stream to get updates from your circles or see what people are saying about things nearby.
* Messenger is super-fast group messaging for everyone in your circles.
* Mobile Hangouts allows you to video chat with up to 9 friends while you're on the go.
Our App of the Day today is Facebook 3.5 for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad with iOS 3.0 or later.
Facebook pushed out a pretty major update to its iPhone app yesterday (yes, we know - still no native iPad app... boo!). The update was pushed out just after an update for Google+ was released. Strange timing or is it Facebook fighting back?
The new update is a good one with many changes such as the ability to tag friends and places in posts, the ability to share external links from a web view and much improved group and profile wall designs.
Facebook for iPhone makes it easy to stay connected and share information with friends. Use your iPhone to start a conversation with Facebook Chat, check your friends' latest photos and status updates, look up a phone number, or upload your own mobile photos to Facebook while on the go.

Samsung is set to launch their new mobile messaging platform, ChatON, at the IFA consumer electronics conference this week. Samsung's ChatON will work across platforms such as Android, iOS, Blackberry and Samsung's Bada OS, unlike competitors Blackberry with BBM or Apple's upcoming iMessages. ChatON will support one-on-one discussions as well as group messaging, it will also support standard text-based messages as well as images and even simple animations.
This is another step in the mobile messaging solution, where there are a fair amount of competitors and action happening. Blackberry BBM, iMessages launching from Apple soon, Skype acquired GroupMe, Facebook recently purchased Beluga, another cross-platform group messaging app. It seems as though group messaging is the latest trend to launch into.
