Folding@Home Nvidia GPU client out soon

By: (more) | Posted: May 23, 2008 6:35 am

At its little media gathering from its HQ in San Jose, Nvidia is spilling many beans about its upcoming plans.

The latest news to come from the event is that there will be a Folding@Home Nvidia GPU client out soon.

As you may know, ATI has had its own Folding@Home GPU client out for quite some time now but by the look of the presentation reports at the event, it looks like users of Nvidia graphics cards can soon get in on the action as well and of course, Nvidia is claiming that their GPU will be the best for folding.

Ryan tells us "... Yes, it's finally coming - the NVIDIA GPU client we have all wanted since first seeing and tasting the power of the ATI GPU Folding@Home client.

Vijay Pande, the man behind the Folding@Home project, was on hand to demonstrate the first showing of the NVIDIA GPU client."

The numbers seen suggest that Nvidia will have a mighty folder with its upcoming GPU and the report suggests that it will fold much faster than the PS3. Head on over to PC Prospective to find out more on the story.
