Plextor looking after the HD-DVD crowd

By: (more) | Posted: Mar 24, 2008 8:09 pm

With the dual format war well and truely over now that HD-DVD's raised the white flag and since shut shop, many people are now on a hunt to snap up any bargains they can find with HD-DVD movies and players plummeting in price to simply try and get rid of all the existing stock out there.

For this reason, many people will be glad Plextor has decided to implement HD-DVD reading support in their latest series of internal Blu-ray drives, these comprising the PX-B920SA Multi-function drive with Blu-ray recording, and the lower cost PX-B300SA Multi-function drive with DVD/CD recording.

For further information on the new drives, check out Plextor's announcement here.

"With the recent end of the DVD format wars, these new combos drives from Plextor still offer customers the freedom to view high-definition video media they prefer to use, whether Blu-Ray or HD DVD," said Amber Wang, director of new business development and marketing at Plextor. "According to Home Media, more than 1.5 million HD DVD movies have been sold in the United States to date. Our new drives give customers the ability to play HD DVD movies as well as Blu-ray discs."
