An announcement from Sapphire a short time ago introduces their latest ATI Radeon offering based on the dual-GPU HD 3870 X2 graphics card.

Aside from the Sapphire theme that is imprinted on the card's stock cooler it appears that everything is pretty standard as far as following the reference design goes.

SAPPHIRE Technology - the leading innovator of graphics solutions for the PC - is now introducing a new DUAL GPU graphics accelerator based on the successful HD 3870.

The SAPPHIRE HD 3870 X2 comprises two complete HD 3870 graphics systems on a single PCI-Express card. Each GPU has 512MB of GDDR3 memory, making a total of 1GB on-board memory. Two Dual Link DVI outputs are provided as well as TV-Out. 3D applications such as games use both on-board GPU's together in CrossFire mode to deliver a single accelerated output on the Primary display only. In this mode, the new SAPPHIRE HD 3870 X2 delivers comparable performance to two separate HD 3870 cards in CrossFire mode, making it the fastest performing single card available using this generation of technology.
