As the need for larger storage capacities continues to grow both at and away from home, Transcend are going with the flow and have today announced a 16GB Class 6 SDHC card based around the newer SD 2.0 standard with FAT32 support. ECC (Error Correcting Code) is also resident which keeps your data in healthy order during transfer.

Transcend are able to guarentee a minimum write speed of 6MB/sec on this card. Unfortunately Transcend haven't mentioned pricing or availability but all other details are found within the press release here.

Transcend, a global leader in flash memory cards, in order to meet growing consumer demand for greater capacity and speed, today rolled out its largest capacity SD product to date - a 16GB Class 6 SDHC? card that offers enormous capacity at an attractive price.

Fully Class 6 compliant, the card features fast data transfer speeds (guaranteed minimum write speed of 6MB/s) and satisfies the high-capacity demands of today's new SDHC devices such as high-end digital cameras or digital camcorders. The massive 16GB memory capacity is enough to store over 8,000 high-resolution 7-megapixel JPG photos. With 16 gigabytes at your disposal, you can store your entire music or picture collection, thousands of video clips, or even complete full-length high quality movies.
