Western Digital have announced a new kind of product today which upon first glance looks pretty much identical to their existing My Book line of external hard drives, only it's designed to be used in conjunction with TiVo HD and Series3 DVRs via an eSATA port; this allowing for up to an additional 60 hours of high-definition recording time thanks to its 500GB HDD.

Dubbed the "My DVR Expander", Western Digital have gone with passive cooling for this device to keep things quiet in your loungeroom along with a low intensity LED light. The My DVR Expander is also said to be compatible with Scientific Atlanta models including the Explorer 8300 series DVRs.

For the full rundown on it check out the press release on WD's website folks.
