Interview with Creative on PCIe X-Fi

The folks over at Playreaction.com have arranged a chat with Creative's senior brand manager for audio, DDarragh O'Toole. The main purpose of the discussion was to dig a little deeper about X-Fi's future in terms of it coming out in the form of PCI-Express.

 

It'll definitely arrive, and very soon. There'll be some minor enhancements to the PCI-e variant but for the most part it will remain the same.

Creative are finalising their first X-Fi Xtreme Audio retail card in PCI-Express format. Set for a October release, this new card is serving as an integration test for Creative's PCI-E cards. Altough the Xtreme Audio may not be gamer's nirvana, we have been promised that the rest of the series will follow in the near future.
