Galaxy goes dual 8600GT

By: (more) | Posted: Jul 30, 2007 3:28 pm

It's come to our attention that Galaxy is working on a dual GeForce 8600GT card, something to give the dual Radeon HD 2600 XT cards a run for their money, The card seems to have the same cooler as the dual 7900-series cards that never really made it into retail.

The card will have two GeForce 8600GT GPU's clocked at 650MHz and this is combined with 512MB of GDDR3 memory at 2,000MHz. We're talking 256MB per card if your game doesn't support SLI.

Galaxy has also made a rather odd choice of having a single DVI and an HDMI connector on the card, as this doesn't make a lot of sense for a gaming card. There's also a TV-out connector and the card need extra power from a 6-pin PCI Express connector.

We have no idea when, or if, this card will be available, but we'll keep you posted when we find out more information.
