SiS to launch two new AMD chipsets

Early 2008

| CPUs, Chipsets & SoCs News | Posted: Jul 13, 2007 11:05 am

SiS will be launching two new AMD chipsets in Q1 2008, the SiS 757 performance chipset and the SiS 772 with integrated graphics. SiS will also be launching a new southbridge at the same time, the SiS 969. The two new chipsets will support socket AM2+ and AM3 as well as HyperTransport 3.0.

The SiS 772 will feature the DX10 Mirage 4 graphics engine with shader model 4.0 support. It will also feature SiS' Real Video technology for acceleration of HD video content. HDMI with HDCP support is also part of the spec.

The new southbridge will support 10 USB 2.0 ports, two IDE connectors, four SATA 3Gbps ports with NCQ and RAID, four PCIe lanes and HD audio support. Pretty much standard fair compared to competing solutions.

It will be interesting to see what the performance SiSi 757 chipset has to offer, will this be the first dual PCIe x16 slot support chipset from SiS? Or will it simply be a solid solution for anyone looking for an alternative chipset for their AMD system? Time will tell, but for now we can only guess.
