Asus offers free upgrade to Windows Mobile 6
With the introduction of Windows Mobile 6, many owners of older devices wondered if they would get the chance to upgrade to this new OS for mobile devices. It turns out that it's down to the device manufacturers at the end of the day and they all seem to have slightly different plans here. However, it seems like Asus has decided to release the new OS for a wide range of its handheld devices and hopefully others will follow suit.

If you own an Asus A639/A626/A686/A696 or P535/P735 Windows Mobile 5 device, you'll be able to upgrade it free of charge to Windows Mobile 6 come July. It's the full OS with all the office features and so on, so no cut-down version for upgrades. It's a nice gesture by Asus and a good way of keeping your customers happy. HTC has promised upgrades for some of its devices, but no real information has been released as yet. With regards to other Windows Mobile device manufacturers, very little information has been announced with regards to upgrades to Windows Mobile 6.
