Logitech G5 2007 Edition

By: (more) | Posted: May 9, 2007 3:24 am

Logitech has quietly released a new version of its G5 gaming mouse, although it only seems to have been given two minor changes, it's rather odd that there hasn't been any news from Logitech on the matter. I think all of you will agree with me that it's great that the second side mounted button is back, as apparently this was removed from the original G5 "because gamers wanted less buttons". Personally I find it quite frustrating, as it's great to have the back and forward buttons when you're in Windows and browsing the web and you can never have too many buttons if you know what I mean.

The other change is the colour scheme of the mouse, although I'm not sure that the blue and black pattern and blue slot and cartridge for the weights are going to attract current G5 owners. I quite liked the two tone rusty look of the old G5, I just wish I had a forward button as well as a back button. The bad news is that the new G5 doesn't seem to be available from Logitech in the US of A and you might want to check your local Logitech website for availability in your country. I did however see it on sale here in Taipei yesterday when I was having a look around the computer market and it was priced slightly higher than the old G5 model.
