NVIDIA 8800GTS is "cheap as chips"

By: (more) | Posted: Oct 28, 2006 12:58 am

According to The Inquirer, the upcoming 8800GTS video card from NVIDIA will be be selling at a VERY attractive price point. The 8800GTS will be a slightly lower spec'd offering to the mighty 8800GTX but given you get a G80 (Direct-X 10) based card with 640MBs of GDDR3 memory, $449USD is pretty darn good!

THE LAUNCH OF G80 is imminent, and it will happen during the GeForce LAN3 in San Jose. The event website has been updated will all the necessary details, and it is interesting to see that the main partner for the event is now AMD, while Intel is in fifth place as a sponsor, under AMD, Antec, BFG and EVGA.

The price of 8800GTX will be sold at $650, but the recommended price of the 8800GTS is set at "lowly" $449, or probably €499 in €uroland.
