2 x nVidia Quad SLI - when four GPU's is not enough...

Thinking of a way to spend over $3,000 USD in one go? Easy! You buy four nVidia GeForce 7950GX2 cards (two GeForce 7900 cards joined together) for a total of eight GPU's along with a motherboard with four physical PCI Express graphics card slots, such as the Gigabyte 8N-SLI Quad Royal.

OK - so we kind of lied and are merely showing off what is sitting around in our lab. If you look closely, you can see that this kind of setup is not possible but interesting nevertheless. The first set of four GPU's is unable to communicate with the second set of GPU's.

Due to some issues with our GeForce 7950 GX2 samples, our review has been delayed but we are testing as we speak with a range of cards from XFX, BFG and Leadtek. Unlike other sites, we will be testing with a total of four GPU's whereas all other sites were only sent one 7950 GX2 card (two GPU).

Stay tuned as our review will be online soon and it should be interesting as we're testing all the way up to 2560 x 1600 with everything turned up for people with 30" LCD monitors. Life is good and Computex 2006 is due to begin in about 9 hours - we just might see 8-way GPU SLI here but I doubt it.
