It's been a long time since Bungie has made a PC game, but with Destiny 2 coming to PC this September, it's critical the devs are able to harness the wide spectrum of graphics cards and PC hardware while maintaining proper features befit a triple-A shooter. In fact, Bungie is pressured on two different fronts: console gamers expect a fully-fledged campaign with better expansions, and PC gamers expect a proper port that's optimized for higher- and lower-end rigs.

According to Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg, Destiny 2 will impress PC gamers.

"With respect to PC, we're committed to delivering meaningful features that are bespoke for the PC community. I'm really excited about what we have to show for them," Hirshberg said in the company's recent Q1 2017 earnings call.

The CEO says we'll see details on PC features during Destiny 2's highlight showcase on May 18. "But I'm going to leave the details of those for our gameplay premiere event which is happening on May 18. And we'll have some additional, obviously, exciting announcements on the game overall at that time as well."

Combining this tidbit with other Destiny promises made by the publisher, Activision has talked up the sequel quite a bit. Activision says Destiny 2 will have a "great story and characters," and the campaign itself will be "dramatic and compelling" with a cinematic story arc that should rival the first game's disjointed mess of a tale.

It'll be interesting to see what Bungie can deliver on the PC front. Given how much is riding on Destiny 2's success I expect the PC version won't be a sloppy, unfinished port with poor frame rates and optimization. But of course it's too early to tell, so Activision's assurances should be taken lightly until we have solid proof.

Hopefully we'll get actual details and info during Destiny 2's live showcase on May 18.

Destiny 2 will release on PS4, Xbox One and PC on September 8, 2017. Check below for more info about the game.
