Old school gamers will remember the effect that MechWarrior had back in the 90s, but did you know there hasn't been a single-player game in the MechWarrior universe since 2002's MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries?

Piranha Games has been working on MechWarrior Online, and have now just announced MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries - a single-player game that will have gamers aiming for a successful career as a private robot that serves on "behalf of the houses of the Inner Sphere", reports Engadget.

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is powered by Unreal Engine, so it should look impressive when it drops in 2018. The developer is promising that you will be able to buy and maintain BattleMechs, but it'll come down to your skills as well.

Will you be buying MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries when it drops in 2018?
