Civilization VI scores 20% off as preload takes flight

Civilization VI pre-load is live and so is a new pre-purchase discount worth 20% off

With the pre-load going live today on Friday's big release Civilization VI so has a pre-order discount at GMG. A few weeks back all discounts were wiped out in North America by 2K, but GMG has brought back the price break now that you can start the download. Keys are sent out instantly after purchase at GMG, so you can start downloading right away.

To see the discount at GMG requires you to add the game to cart. In the past, GMG has pushed for users to login or create an account to view their discounts, now you'll need to actually add the game to cart before any price break shows up. Update: Discount is now 15% off.

With keys being sent out you can begin downloading ASAP. After unpacking, the game will take up about 12GB of hard drive space, which is slightly more than Civilization V's 8GB, but small in comparison to games like DOOM 2016 at 55GB.

Prices in the UK and EU are similar at GMG. There you'll pay £39.99 for the standard edition (£49.99 list price) or £55.99 for the deluxe (£69.99 list price). The discounts in Europe and UK can be seen before logging in. Keep in mind that Civilization VI is a region locked title, so buying a key in Europe will not allow you to access the game in North America or vice versa. While this isn't an issue at GMG as they redirect you to the proper store before purchasing, if you buy elsewhere, make sure you check region support before you plop over your cash on Firaxi's latest.
