- Axion Introduces Addons for Portable DVD Players
A PR from Axion yesterday announces two new accessories for their Axi-Port enabled Portable DVD Players. They now have on offer a SEGA Gaming Controller which is pre-loaded with seven SEGA classics, providing you with plenty of entertainment whilst on the move. Also now available is a TV Tuner port which lets you watch TV on your portable DVD player whilst out and about as well. Further details within the supporting press release.
The Axion AXN-1101 SEGA gaming controller is ergonomically designed and pre-loaded with seven SEGA Classics games providing hours of entertainment at home or on the road. You can battle Ninja warriors with Super Shinobi III, try your hand fighting otherworldly creatures in Altered Beast or test your hand/eye coordination skills with Columns III. Other pre-loaded games include Shadow Dance, Flicky, Gain Ground and Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle.
The new AXN-1001 television tuner turns your portable DVD player into a television that can receive cable signals as well as broadcast TV stations. Excellent for travel and families on the go - with this unit the kids don't have to miss their favorite cartoons and sports fans won't miss a minute of the big game! Much like a regular TV, it can receive VHF/UHF signals and channels 2 - 69 or you can connect to your cable at home and receive up to 125 channels (according to your cable provider) of cable programming.
- AMD Challenges Intel To A Dual-Core Duel
In an official announcement from AMD earlier today, they've issued Intel a challenge to conduct a head-to-head competition of dual-core x86 server processors. AMD's proposed dual-core duel in 2005 would be a live, public performance evaluation between server platforms based on the highest-performing Dual-Core AMD Opteron(tm) 800 Series or 200 Series processors and the corresponding Intel x86 server processors that are commercially available in volume. AMD certainly are keen to rub it in arnt they? More details on AMD's intent with this one over at their website folks.
The challenge, issued today in The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, San Jose Mercury News and The San Francisco Chronicle, features the world's first x86 dual-core server microprocessor, the Dual-Core AMD Opteron processor, in a boxing ring waiting for the Intel challenger. AMD has challenged Intel to settle the question once and for all-whose x86-based dual-core architecture best meets server customer's needs.
"Since we launched Dual-Core AMD Opteron processors in April 2005, we've won every major industry-standard benchmark for x86 servers. AMD64 dual-core technology provides industry-leading performance, is easy to upgrade and is energy efficient," said Marty Seyer, corporate vice president and general manager, Microprocessor Solutions Sector, AMD. "We are giving our competitor a fair and open opportunity to challenge our clear market leadership in a public setting. A head-to-head match using industry-standard benchmarks will arm customers with the information necessary to determine which company can best meet their computing needs. The gauntlet has been thrown down, it is time to cut through the hype, and demonstrate who the industry's leader in x86 dual-core processing is today."
