- NVIDIA nForce4 SLI technology supercharges Dell desktop PC

Dell have just recently opted to go with an NVIDIA nForce4 SLI Intel edition powerplant for their new XPS 600 desktop PC, also sporting two 7800 GTX graphics cards. NVIDIA thought it worthy of a dedicated press release.

SANTA CLARA, CA—AUGUST 8, 2005—NVIDIA Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA), a worldwide leader in graphics and digital media processors, today announced that the new Dell XPS 600 desktop PC features NVIDIA nForce4 SLI X16 Intel Edition technology and award-winning GeForce 7800 GTX graphics processing units (GPUs). Today’s announcement marks the first time that Dell has used a chipset enabling dual graphics in their product offerings.

“The introduction of the new Dell XPS 600 with our new NVIDIA SLI X16 MCP validates SLI technology as a new gaming standard for enthusiasts,” said Jen-Hsun Huang, president and CEO at NVIDIA. “There is no better endorsement than having the world’s largest PC maker include our latest technologies in their flagship product.”



- id Software and Activision celebrate 10th annual QUAKECON with Quake 4

As they gear up for the 10th annual QUAKECON event in Grapevine, Texas from 11-14 this month, ID Software and Activision have just annouced that they plan to unveil QUAKE 4 during the event! Not only this, but they also intend to show off the new DOOM 3 addon "Ressurrection of Evil" for the XBOX, this being its first appearance to the masses. Santa Monica, CA - August 9, 2005 - 3...2...1...FIGHT! id Software(tm) and Activision, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI) give multiplayer gaming a shot of adrenaline with the announcement that QUAKE 4(tm) multiplayer will be unveiled at the 10th Annual QuakeCon - the nation's largest and most legendary video game festival and tournament. In addition, QuakeCon 2005 will also play host to the first showing of DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil(tm) for the Xbox(r) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. QuakeCon 2005 will attract more than 6,000 video game fans from around the world and is being held at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas from August 11-14.

QUAKE 4 marks the return of id's trademark deathmatch-style multiplayer formula. Online gameplay action in QUAKE 4 is based on the speed, style and overall multiplayer feel found in the popular QUAKE III Arena(r), and allows gamers to play in Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Arena, CTF and Tournament modes on the Strogg or Marine teams.
