Extreme PC Garage – Pimp My Ride for Computers

Published: 10th July 2005 @ 7:25 AM

I’ve been hearing a bit about a new online TV show called Extreme PC Garage and finally decided to check it out.

It’s just like an MTV show which I really enjoy called “Pimp My Ride” where the show takes a lucky persons old and ran down car and tweaks it based on the persons personality – they spend thousands on bringing the vehicles up to show level condition with extreme mods which are to die for. Extreme PC Garage has pretty much the exact same concept except for computers.

Extreme PC Garage is dedicated solely to computer enthusiasts and is sponsored by XFX, a maker of nVidia based graphics cards. Its paid product placement at its best but the show is kinda cool even though it’s a direct rip of MTV’s popular show.

In their pilot episode, the team at Extreme PC Garage found a contestant who is into computer games and loves cars. They end up creating a computer that looks like a car with a retractable 50” LCD TV which acts like a hood – as corny as it is, it is one of the best case mods I’ve seen. You’d expect nothing less though with nVidia (through XFX) no doubt forking a lot of marketing funds into the new show. And of course, the car PC is equipped with a couple brand new GeForce 7800 GTX in SLI.

Check out the pilot episode here and let us know what you think of the show by commenting below!
