- ECS Announce Dual Support Intel/AMD motherboard
Previewed earlier this year at CeBIT, ECS's upcoming PF88 motherboard was very much the centre of attention in the motherboard dept due to its ability to support both Intel or AMD CPUs (with the help of their "SIMA - Simply Smart" convertor card technology). The board is natively a well featured Intel LGA775 arrangement with support for EM64T, but simply adding the convertor card allows one to switch to Athlon64 with ease, rather then heading out and picking up a whole new motherboard. As to just HOW useful this really is to the end user is questionable, but it's a rather nifty little breakthrough all the same.
ECS have followed up their recent preview at CeBIT with a press release further detailing the characteristics of the board which you can get a hold of here folks.

ECS has made this dream come true with the new PF88 Pentium 4 motherboard that can run both chips with a converter card (SIMA) for an AMD K8 processor. This SIMA card enables users to utilize the features of AMD K8 architecture on an Intel LGA775 platform without the expense and hassle usually associated with keeping up to date with technology. The PF88’s user friendly and flexible plug and play functionality allows users to convert to the K8 AMD platform without the need to remove their Intel motherboard. - ASUS Jump Aboard Intel's Dualcore 955X - P5WD2 Premium
A New motherboard has just been dished out by ASUS today as they unveil their P5WD2 Premium, based on Intel's most recent 955X chipset. Aside from all the enhanced features and support the 955X chipset natively brings, ASUS have decided to spice things up even more as they include a digital TV-tuner and WiFi card to boot.
