With 'Star Trek' celebrating it's 50th anniversary next year, fans have not only a third film in the rebooted series to look forward to, but now also a brand new TV show which will premiere in 2017.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the as-yet untitled 'Star Trek' series will be guided by Alex Kurtzman, co-writer of 2009's 'Star Trek' and 'Into Darkness', will premiere on the CBS Network in January 2017, six months after the release of 'Star Trek Beyond'.

The new series will mark the first time the franchise has aired on television screens since the unceremonious cancellation of 'Star Trek: Enterprise', during it's fourth season in 2005.
