While the last movie in the Resident Evil franchise will be released in 2017, Capcom is teasing that it's working on a new animated film in the world of Resident Evil, for a release sometime in 2017.

Capcom is working Japanese studio Marza Animation Planet on the new movie, which will feature Resident Evil characters Leon Kennedy, Chris Redfield and Rebecca Chambers. The crew working on the movie will include those who worked on Ju-On (The Grudge), Ghost in the Shell, Death Note and other popular anime and movies.

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter started filming in August, which is also expected in 2017, starring Milla Jovovich as Alice, with her husband Paul W.S. Anderson returning to the director's chair.
