"Water lenses are fragile: they tremble in the wind, break by the touch of a finger" says the Japanese creator of this short film, Dan Tomimatsu. Utilizing only a droplet of water, a 5 yen coin and his trusty iPhone, a beautiful flick was made.
The water is held in place thanks to the wonderful science of surface tension and when a drop is placed inside the hole of a 5 yen coin and it held over an iPhone camera lens, this amazing imagery is the result. Also known as "fukudapero" the creator of this piece intended to show all that you don't need an array of fancy technology to make something look beautiful.
In discussion with Gizmodo, fukudapero said that the reasoning for this simple setup was to show everyone "that beauty exists here in our daily life, and that to do so in 2015, all you need is an iPhone, water and a coin. In other words, digital, nature and manufacture."
