Thanks to the massive rise of mobile use in Africa, Facebook has seen stellar growth in this region, reporting 60 percent of all internet users are now signed up to this social media platform, with 80 percent of access happening on mobile devices.
84 percent of Africa's population now has access to mobile networks, as reported by the African Union last week, with this news coming after Facebook's investment into Africa became public in June 2015, resulting in its African user base growing by 20 percent to a total of 120 million in less than 12 months. However, with over a billion people located on this continent, it's obvious that there is still has a long way to go.
With users located mainly within Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa, Facebook further made mention that every single user in its Nigerian and South African user base accesses Facebook on a mobile device - making up 15 million and 15 million people respectively. These high figures are backed up by 95 percent of 4.5 million Kenyans following suit.
