EVGA has just outed its latest X99-based motherboard, the X99 Micro2, a new mATX offering from the company. EVGA's latest board features USB 3.1 Type-C, which should have connectivity fields drooling.
The new EVGA X99 Micro2 is an update from the first Micro2 motherboard, with an extra USB 3.1 Type-C port as well as additional SATA ports. We also have a "revised trace layout and a refreshed BIOS over the previous model", reports AnandTech. The new board is capable of x16/x16 or x16/x8/x8 for 40-lane CPUs. This allows the other PCIe 3.0 x4 M.2 slot some breathing space when it comes to available bandwidth.
EVGA has used an Intel I217 network chip, while getting some help from Realtek for the audio solution with Realtek's ALC1150 chip. EVGA should be pricing the X99 Micro2 at around $225-$250.
