AMD "Hammer" Architecture To Be Unveiled

There's no rest for AMD! So soon after the release of their latest chip, the Athlon XP, AMD have announced that they will disclose the architectural details of their next-generation chips, codenamed "Hammer".


AMD's Vice President and Chief Technical Officer Fred Weber today will disclose architectural details of AMD's next-generation "Hammer" microprocessor architecture at Microprocessor Forum in San Jose, Calif. Weber will also discuss how HyperTransport¬ô, the innovative technology designed to accelerate internal system communications, simplifies the design and boosts the performance of multiprocessing systems.
