- Tul responds to accusations of involvement with forged PowerColor RADEON 9600 PRO's
Word's been spreading in recent times that there have been reasonably large quantities of PowerColor 9550 based graphics cards selling as 9600 Pro's, very fishy indeed. One such site revealing this information was none other than XBit Labs. Only a very short time later we see an official statement issued out from Tul Corporation (the big guns behind the PowerColor name) indicating that they've had no involvement whatsoever with the forged 9600 Pro cards and take no responsibility for the availability of these on the market. TAIPEI, TAIWAN (19 October, 2004) – Tul Corporation is hereby declaring that it holds no responsibilities of manufacturing and supplying the forged PowerColor RADEON 9600 PRO graphics cards, found in market earlier this month. Furthermore, Tul has already announced the discontinuation of the product – PowerColor RADEON 9600 PRO 128MB available in 400/600MHz – around Computex Taipei back in June this year.
A few graphics cards, under the PowerColor brand name that contained conflicting ATI processors, were surprisingly found available in a retail store. With the fact that Tul has discontinued the PowerColor RADEON 9600 PRO 128MB in 400/600MHz, which announcement also being posted on Tul’s official website for four months by now, Tul suspects the occurrences of false usages and sales of PowerColor products by unknown parties. Ted Chen, C.E.O. of Tul Corporation, stated, “The forgery act not only jeopardizes Tul’s credibility to its customers and Tul’s relationship to the channels, it also drives the VGA industry to an unhealthy condition.”

Finally we start to see some gain on the performance of top-end DDR1 memory modules with newer DDR2 technology.
