- SilverStone SST-FP54 VFD

If you're attracted to uniquely outstanding enthusiast products for your rig, you may like what SilverStone have to offer with their SST-FP54 VFD (Vacuum Fluorescent Display) which mounts into a typical 5.25" drive bay. Similar in concept to the popular Matrix Orbital display units, it'll provide you with a whole host of (useful?) information at the front of your case along with some other nifty eye-catching features. OCIA spent a while with it recently and have their review up.

In this review I'll be taking a look at the SilverStone SST-FP54... a Vacuum Fluorescent Display mounting in an available 5.25" drive bay that interfaces with your printer (LPT) port. VFD displays are much brighter and crisper than the traditional LCD displays, with improved viewing angle and contrast. LCD/VFD units are becoming more and more popular, yet many still don't come already mounted in a nice enclosure with everything already wired up for you, leaving them to the more 'advanced' users. SilverStone is helping to make it easy for everyone to add an LCD/VFD to their system. The FP54 is an HD44780 LCD compliant device, with 2 rows of 16 characters.
