- Dolby And Intel To Aid Developers In Bringing Premium Surround Sound Experience To PCs

Announced at their own Developer's Forum live from San Francisco yesterday, Intel have issued out a press release detailing their latest plans to work with Dolby on producing and maintaining new tools for developers implementing quality surround sound audio solutions on selected Intel based motherboards. Hell knows we certainly need 'em, with many of us tiring of the limited and highly undesirable Realtek and Cmedia solutions that most people have been used to seeing. The high definition audio solutions seen on several of the latest LGA775 based motherboards out there, although not perfect carry a nice advancement for the onboard pc audio industry nonetheless. It will be interesting to see what comes of this further development over the coming months. Full details can be had within the official PR over at Intel's site.

INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM, SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 8, 2004 - Dolby Laboratories and Intel Corporation today announced the two companies are collaborating to provide developers with tools to enable high-end audio for Intel-based PC platforms. As a result, consumers can enjoy a premium surround sound experience on their computers whether they are on the go, in the living room, or bringing the audio studio into their den.

The powerful combination of Dolby's audio expertise and Intel's industry enabling efforts based on Dolby Master Studio's rigorous audio specifications will lead to the creation of advanced High Definition (HD) Audio solutions. Intel's new product reference designs and guidelines will support the Dolby PC Entertainment Experience Initiative. Intel's latest PC platforms based on the Intel® 915 and 925X Express Chipsets and fast Intel® Pentium® 4 processors with Hyper-Threading Technology** provide the performance and headroom for emerging audio applications.
