QuakeCon 2004 - Hello from QuakeCon in Dallas, Texas

Published: 13th August 2004 @ 12:54 PM
Author: Cameron Wilmot

Landed in Dallas, Texas from LAX about an hour ago and have checked into the very nice Gaylord Texan resort where QuakeCon 2004 is currently being held. Haven’t had a chance to look around yet but it’s said to be the largest hotel resort in Texas and I would believe that from what I have seen so far.

Haven't had a chance to take a look at the actual LAN yet as I'm running on very little sleep over the past day and a half (seeing the sun go up, then go to complete darkness and then go up again in the space of 12 hours is confusing to the body!), but I will soon and post some pictures up here and in the Photo Gallery as a pre-thing to our real coverage which I will have online either late Sunday or Monday morning US time. I might even look around in the BYOC area tomorrow and check out gamers case mods etc and post some coverage of that.

So far the Texans have given me a very warm welcome and I like the style of the place for my first visit to the United States. The picture of Bush when you first enter LAX was kind of different though I got to admit :)

Oh and hello to the helpful staff at the QuakeCon check-in point, they knew TweakTown so it was good to know we have a strong presence among gamers in Southwest USA.

More tomorrow!
