- Plextor's ConvertX M402U
Hard Extreme have checked out one of Plextor's latest products today. The ConvertX M402U is a small external silver box that takes on the role of a typical TV capture card, only with the ability to capture video and audio to a compressed format on the fly, removing the otherwise extra step needed to convert/compress your newly ripped video footage. It seems to do everything in a nice streamlined manner, and with a pretty decent pricetag too.
My initial thoughts of Plextor’s ConvertX were very positive; the modest, silver box is hyper-modern and the specs on the packaging claim the unit is capable of great things.
I’m not much of a “ripper” but I do my own video editing on occasion, and the ConvertX is worth a closer look. I have been waiting for something like ConvertX to come a long for a long time. Compression in Real Time is thrilling in contrast to the hours normally wasted waiting for video to compress to DIVX format.
