- Heatspreader? No More!
KingMax have informed us today that they've conducted a series of tests on their new DDR2 533mhz modules to determine whether or not heatspreaders were necessary to help cool them. After concluding that the modules never exceeded 33 degrees centigrade, they've decided against bothering with the inclusion of a heatspreader on their new DDR2 range. Comments direct from KingMax below.
"According to our engineers, throughout a complete series of our internal test process,we found the temperature of our DDR2 modules always kept under 33.1 degrees centigrade. This obviously implies that it is unnecessary to have uncalled-for "heat spreader" on it.The heat spreader on the next-generation DDR2 memory will definitely be an embellishment only. So,that is right the reson why we decided not to put it on our DDR2 product. What our DDR2 product will provide users are brilliant performance, consistent quality and reasonable price as well."
