A true once in a generation opportunity to purchase true comic history - the first appearance of Superman 'Action Comics #1' has been grasped by one cashed-up, but anonymous collector.

Hitting eBay with a starting bid of 99 cents before hitting $1.75 million, the comic sold today for an astonishing $3.2 million USD.

With only a few dozen copies of the 75 year old comic still in existence from an estimated 200,000 print run in 1938, the auction represented the finest condition copy of the comic yet known, receiving an almost unheard of 9.0 rating from the CGC. The secret to its condition was due to being stored in a wooden cedar chest at high altitude in the mountains of West Virginia, USA.
