- nVidia announces new GeForce 6800 line

I just read over at nV News that nVidia today unveiled a new GeForce 6800 lineup including the new 6800 Ultra Extreme and 6800 GT. The new line of cards gives consumers a greater choice against the new ATI R420 competition we will hear about today.

The GeForce 6800 Ultra (Extreme) will be offered by selected NVIDIA partners who have incorporated the necessary changes to accomodate the higher clock speeds. These boards will be sold through select AICs, like Gainward and XFX, and high-performance system builders in the OEM channel. NVIDIA's partners will be making announcements at E3.

The GeForce 6800 GT contains 16 pixel pipelines and is clocked lower than the Ultra models at a core and memory of 350MHz/500MHz respectively and will be available in mid-June at a MSRP of $399. The GeForce 6800 GT has a single Molex connecter, relaxed power supply requirements, and a single slot cooling solution.
