- Beginners Guide to creating a Weblog / Blog

The folks at PCStats have a guide up which explains how to go about setting up an online journal, known as a Weblog or Blog. These are becoming more popular for people nowadays, giving them a reason to make their days more interesting.

Nothing personifies the Internet's promise of easy and unlimited communication possibilities quite like the humble weblog. Never mind the millions of commercially driven website; what could be more creative than placing your own thoughts, feelings, art, rants, your own... whatever, in front of a potential audience of millions?

- Intel & AMD CPUs in Video Encoding: Part 2

Ixbt Labs recently produced an article on an open source technique of measuring video compression performance across various codecs (found here!). However, it didn't actually provide results of their test comparisons using an assortment of hardware and codecs which is why they've now formed a second article showing us this with bar charts and supporting feedback. Some very interesting results too.

The first part devoted to audio encoding will be supplemented today with the video encoding results. We used our integrated test packet based on the open technique of testing performance of video compression into DivX, XviD, WMV9, MPEG1 and MPEG2. I hope this review will be very useful to those who often deal with video compression and want to find an optimal configuration for his or her applications.
