- Windows XP SP 2 Coming Soon
I've just spotted an update on the development of Service Pack 2 for WinXP over at PC World. Beta testing's about to go full steam ahead, with the final release being apparently some time within the first half of next year, so still a little bit of waiting to do yet...
Microsoft is gearing up for another set of updates for Windows XP. The software giant is preparing for the first beta test of the updates, which will bolster security and add features such as support for version 1.1 of Bluetooth and a new wireless LAN client.
- Winamp 5 Official Release
For all you WinAmp buffs, first of all, why oh why arn't you using Foobar instead? You prefer visual appearance over usability/quality? well Foobar has playlist skins too! Anyway, back on track here. AOL have just reported the official release of Winamp 5.0 (3.x skinning & features combined with 2.x speed and optimizations). Head over to the new-look official Winamp site for your fresh copy. Keep in mind though, for the fully blown Pro version you'll need to pay $14.95US. Eeek.
Winamp5 is an attempt to combine elements of the 2.x and 3.x versions into a sleeker, faster player. Like previous iterations, it is designed to manage online music and video libraries. New features include Winamp-developed software that can rip and burn CDs using Dolby's Advanced Audio Coding format, according to the sources.
