- 5 Block Water-Block Shootout

The guys at Monster-Hardware have rounded up 5 different types of water blocks for review. These cover DTek's TC-4, Spiral, and White Water blocks, Swiftech's MCW5002, and Little River's Cascade. If you're looking to go water, this would be a great means of research for you.

Monster Hardware has pretty much every type of block made in this review…we have DTek's TC-4, a cross flow cog type; DTek's Spir@l, a traditional Spiral design; Swiftech's MCW5002, an "Open Plenum" cross flow, DTek's White Water, a direct impingement high pressure block and as a last minute entry a direct impingement mini-cupped high pressure block, the famed and mythic Cascade from Little River Waterblocks in Australia (Hi Stu, No worries mate!) With some help from Mr. Bill Adams I have adjusted my testing methodology and improved my ability to get accurate readings. I now take temperatures for ambient ½" from the intake fan, and water temps before the block inlet. CPU temp is taken from the internal diode via the Asus mobo.

I have to admit that $400 MSRP is quite a bit of money for a hard drive, external or not. I know I wouldn't have bought one myself; I would have gone for the smaller version. Nevertheless, people looking for a large hard drive that is external should really look no further.
