- Windows Longhorn Hands-on Preview

I've just discovered a preview of Longhorn over at Fast'n Hard. It looks to be coming along very nicely, most of what it will provide seems to be useful enough. Well worth a read.

 

 

On the whole, based on we've seen we're very excited about Longhorn. It definitely holds promise; as long as future hardware and software can fully take advantage of it's many features, I'm pretty sure users worldwide will find it to be the most advanced Microsoft operating system yet.

 


- Propel Accelerator

 

For all you poor buggers still stuck on dialup, Dan has taken a look at a piece of software called "Propel Accelerator". It uses advanced compression techniques to shrink the sizes of images and the like. It's by no means a world beater, but could be very useful for a lot of you.

 

Propel is meant for use on dial-up connections, but it works with any Internet connection, and that's not just a novelty feature. If you pay big bucks per megabyte for downloads - which, in some countries, is unavoidable - then Propel will probably pay for itself in short order.
