- Gigabyte combines Wi-FI, USB Flash drive

Gigabyte have tried something new once again, the USB-connected GN-WLBZ101/201 offers immediate wireless networking for both the desktop and notebook platform. Not only does it offer connectivity complying with the popular IEEE 802.11b wireless standard, but also acts as a convenient 128mb flash memory storage device for feature versatility in a sleek compact form. This would undoubtedly be quite a nifty device to have indeed. More over at The Register.

Gigabyte has a novel idea for fans of go-anywhere computing: a USB Flash drive that features a built-in Wi-Fi adaptor. The GN-WLBZ201 offers 128MB of Flash storage accessible using any OS that supports USB storage devices. The device sports a fold-up antenna module with activity lights.

- The NVIDIA nForce3's Unlocked PCI Bus

ZuePhOk over at RojakPot has completed a series of tests on ASUS's SK8N which utilizes NVIDIA's current nForce3 chipset. The tests were to prove that the chipset is unable to lock the PCI bus, at least on the SK8N. Obtaining this result was only possible with the help of the IOSS RD2 Pro PC Geiger which is effectively a multifunction PCI bus analyzer.

While we do not have the chance to test all nForce3 motherboards, this initial finding shows that there are at least the ASUS SK8N motherboard does not come with a locked PCI bus. It would be sheer folly to assume that nForce3 motherboards automatically lock the PCI bus at 33.3MHz. We suspect that a PCI bus lock in the nForce3 motherboards will require at least some form of BIOS support.
