- The Home Made Cube Case

For all you modders out there, be it experienced or not, Peter Barnard over at Spode's Abode has given us an excellent rundown on his very unique and solid "cubed" case, consisting of what were previously two identical and rather bland Inwin A500 cases. However, if you were willing to try something similar yourself I am sure it would work just as well (if not better) utilizing a different pair.

So, how much do you think this custom case cost to create? a hundred pounds? a hundred and fifty? As a matter of fact, the exact figure is Zero Pounds, and Zero Pence. Necessity may be the mother of invention, but necessity's mother is poverty. The industrial design of this case was dictated not so much by my sense of aesthetics, as by my empty wallet. The industrial look can be a very cheap mod. For example, on the side panels, I simulate the look of dirty unpainted steel with some unpainted and dirtied steel.

The entire project was completed with junk I had lying around anyway. This case now houses my day to day workstation, and does a marvelous job of it.

- Memory Bandwidth vs. Latency Timings

This article written by Max over at PCStats is a very interesting read for those of you wanting to know more about how memory performance is affected in relation to both bandwith (fsb/ratios) and latency timings. Definitely a worthwhile read for the many overclockers out there.

As we've mentioned in numerous PCstats reviews, memory timings play a key role in terms of overall system performance. More so in 3D based applications which do not need a great deal of bandwidth, but rather quick access between the various pieces of hardware within the computer.
