Samsung's first Tizen phone delayed until Q1 2014 says executive

Samsung executive says that the release of its first Tizen-based smartphone is delayed until 2014 (KRX:005930)

Earlier today I reported on leaked benchmarks that show 2 of Samsung's upcoming Tizen-based smartphones are almost as fast as its Android-based Galaxy S4. In the article I stated that it was unclear as to when the phones may launch, and now we have a better understanding of when that might happen.

Speaking with the Korea Herald, a Samsung executive has said that the company will not be releasing a Tizen-powered smartphone until at least the first quarter of 2014. That put's the Intel / Samsung mobile OS off schedule by several months, and the Tizen-based smart TV OS off by even more. No reason was given for the delay, but I suspect that hardware issues are to blame. It could be anything though, and Samsung could be falsely delaying the new OS until it launches its Galaxy S5 with both Tizen and Android.
