Samsung to intro foldable displays by 2016, flexible is so yesterday

If you thought flexible displays were cool, what about foldable displays? Samsung will have it by 2016 (KRX:005930)

Samsung really is at the bleeding edge of technology right now, with its own curved smartphone, but what about 2014 and beyond? Well, according to Samsung's Analyst Day held in Korea, the company has teased the future of its technology.

You can see from the image above, that display technology is currently at the curved part, next year and into 2015 we'll see bended displays, but then - bam, technology barriers broken - and voila: foldable displays! This would be quite the boon to the technology market, especially tablets and Ultrabooks. Mobile devices will also see an injections of pixels from the 1920x1080 that we have now on most of its high-end Galaxy devices, to 3840x2160 - yes, 4K by 2015 on mobile devices.
