LG sends its G2 smartphone to infinity, and beyond, films it all

LG sends its G2 smartphone to infinity, and beyond - captures it on video (NASDAQ:GOOG, KRX:066570)

LG's G2 smartphone is the company's latest flagship smartphone, but just how do you celebrate your latest smartphone's launch? Well, you launch it, into the stratosphere, that's how.

The South Korean giant wanted to show off the G2's 13-megapixel camera, in style, so it used a weather balloon to get the LG G2 to around 18 miles up. This is enough to get to the stratosphere of Earth, where the G2 snapped some gorgeous imagery using the much-hyped optical image stabilization and low-light functions of the 13-megapixel camera on the rear of the G2 smartphone.

The LG G2 is a 5.2-inch smartphone which features a 1920x1080 IPS panel. The rear-camera shoots 1080p video, with optical image stabilization which keeps everything shake-free. Check out the footage above, it's actually quite impressive.
