Today, Fujifilm announced the release of a new "fast" lens for its X-series compact camera system. The new Fujinon XF23mm f/1.4 R is designed to be ideal for low light shooting, while still retaining an acceptable bokeh background blur many expect from such a low aperture.
Fujifilm says that the lens has been designed to reduce distortion optically rather than digitally and that its seven blade diaphragm creates a smooth bokeh effect. A high-torque DC coreless motor is featured to help provide smooth, quiet, and accurate high-speed autofocusing.
The new Fujinon XF23mm f/1.4 R weighs in at just 10.6 ounces and has a footprint of just 2.48 inches. The lens features a metal focus ring as well as aperture rings to make it rugged and more durable than the competitors' all plastic models. Fujifilm says that this lens is compatible with any X-mount camera and it will go on sale in October for $900.
