Nintendo unveils the 2DS, compatible with both 3DS and DS games

Nintendo unveils your kids' Christmas present, the Nintendo 2DS (TYO:7974)

This kinda come out of nowhere, but Nintendo has announced its latest handheld device, the 2DS. Nintendo's 2DS provides most of the 3DS' features, all without the three-dimensional whizz bang.

Nintendo is even making its new 2DS backwards compatible with its 3DS and DS games, with the camera still supporting 3D photo-taking, but you obviously can't look at those 3D photos on the 2DS. Nintendo is aiming the 2DS at the younger gaming crowd, with a decent price of $130. We should expect the Nintendo 2DS on October 12, which makes it the perfect Christmas lay-by for those parents out there.
