- Soltek 8KT800 in Black Thunder

Soltek Computer announced their first VIA K8T800 chipset based motherboard today called SL-K8AV2-RL for the upcoming AMD Athlon 64 processor. The air is beginning to smell just a little bit more in the flavour of AMD as we come closer to seeing Athlon 64 hit the market place late next month.

The SL-K8AV2-RL combined with the VIA VT8237 South Bridge and VIA companion chips enables an unparalleled range of cutting edge I/O and multimedia features, including an 800MHz Hyper-Transport Bus Link, AGP 8X, native Serial ATA RAID. The SL-K8AV2-RL also features high-bandwidth connectivity options, including the support for eight USB 2.0 ports and 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet. SL-K8AV2-RL supports the revolutionary AMD Athlon 64 processor, breaking through the performance barrier of 32bit computing, however, the 32bt backward -compatible processor is compatible with today's hardware and software and smoothes the transition to the next crucial step in the evolution of the personal computer.

- ABIT MAX3

While on the topic of motherboards, the folks over at Extreme Overclocking posted some preview pictures of the new sexy looking ABIT IC7 MAX3 featuring ABIT's patented OTES technology. We have this motherboard on our test bed right now and we'll be putting it through its paces soon.

We just received the ABIT IC7 MAX3 today. Here is a little gallery for your previewing pleasure. For those of you who have not already heard of this board, it is almost the same as the original but this one features ABIT's OTES to keep the mosfets and other components cool. Supposedly this will aid in overclocking but we will look into that when the review is up. For now, enjoy. Look for a full review of this board in the near future.
